That's Just Great!
7 Sept 2007
OK people... I am usually a poem - joke - light hearted person AND I don't normally do this, BUT I am actually going to blog something!!!
REALLY, I am going to BLAH - something! BLAH - BLah - blah...
I am a patient - kind - keep it together kind of person... I have my lover, family, friends, acquaintances... an all around - bunch of GREAT people in my life! And then there is me! Too!
Long story short -
I had a great job; I lost what I thought a great job; I went back to school at a mature age; balanced work (sometimes 3 part-time jobs at once), four kids (now four kids a daughter-in-law and a grandbaby), school and homework; GRADUATED in MAY; and now I am at a stand still!!
Problem -
During the loooooooooong five and one half of a year(s) I was in school - I made plans... Graduate (I did that and have it checked off!) - start paying off my student loan (I did that and have it checked off! 2 down and only 118 more to go!)- Get a career not just a job... then my dream home... then a new car... then BLAH - BLah - blah!!!
Sooooooooo what did I read today? Well, it was in USA Today!!!
"WASHINGTON (Reuters) — Employers cut 4,000 jobs in August, the first time in four years...
(YESSSSS - It says, "for the first time in four years..." Why now? Has the moon and the hair on my legs combined to create a 'Nair' effect?)
...that monthly hiring contracted, the government said Friday in a report certain to boost pressure on Federal Reserve policymakers to cut interest rates.
The surprisingly bleak...
(What a GREAT adjective - BLEAK! It is a great visual and you may find it in my next poem OR picture! I'll use the unemployment line as my inspiration for either!!)
...August jobs report was a stark sign that a painful credit crunch...
(OUCH! that has got to hurt... Wait a minute! YES - it does hurt!)
...that has unnerved Wall Street is putting a strain on the national economy.
The last time the economy shed jobs was in August 2003, when 42,000 jobs were cut.
In addition to the August job losses, the Labor Department revised down its estimates for hiring...
(I wonder if they need a technical writer to gather future information and create reports with estimates to report somewhere? Hmmm!)
...in June and July by a total of 81,000. It said 68,000 jobs were added in July rather than 92,000 and 69,000 in June instead of 126,000....(USA Today - online edition)"
Soooooo - if I do my math right: there are 4,000 jobs from the article today for August, and July's difference is 24,000 and June's difference is 57,000. That is a grand (I like the word bleak) total of 85,000 JOB LOSSES.... 85 thousand jobs and I am 1 person...
This explains why I have 30 resumés out there in LIMBO heaven... BUT com'on people GRADUATION was NOT suppose to be the beginning to the end of my universe... BLAH BLah blah...
